ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEMBER
Ms Susie Kitchens joined IIASA as Science Diplomacy Director and Head of Communications and External Relations in May 2026. In this senior leadership role, she guides IIASA’s global engagement strategy, expands international partnerships, and enhances the Institute’s visibility and impact at the science-policy-society interface.
Susie brings extensive senior-level experience in international science policy, diplomacy and multilateral engagement, with a career spanning government, academia and international collaboration.
Before joining IIASA, she served as Director of Imperial Global at Imperial College London, Deputy Director for Global Research and Innovation at the UK Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, and held senior diplomatic and leadership positions in the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.
Susie holds an MSc in Health Promotion from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and a BA in Human Sciences from the University of Oxford. She is also a Fellow of the Centre for Science and Policy at the University of Cambridge.
